5S / Workplace Organization
Individuals often report that several hours per day are wasted in searching for materials, equipment, and information needed to do their job! 5S / Workplace Organization Method and Skills teaches you how to help teams get engaged in improvement and create immediate, meaningful, and visual improvement in their workplace.
Goal of 5S Methods and Skills:
To gain the knowledge and skills of the 5S method and be able to use it to decrease searching and getting ready wastes, improve productivity, and create an environment that is safe, visual and supports work processes. The training encompasses both physical and virtual work environments.

Agenda:
Training: 18 hours of education and immediate application. Participants bring a scenario to class on which to focus and practice.
2-hour (virtual):
- Overview of 5S method (what, why, and how)
- When to use 5S
- How to identify opportunities
- Identify 5S project(s) to apply during training
Training with co-application (2 days):
- Confirming and preparing the team
- Understanding how to lead a team through 5S in a physical environment
- Seeing how to perform each step: Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
- Simulation or begin co-leading 5S application
- Understanding how to lead a team through 5S in an office/information environment
- Seeing how to perform each step
- Understand differences in approach and techniques from a physical environment
- Simulation or begin co-leading the 5S
- Continue co-leading application in a selected work environment
Application and Coaching: 2-4 days of on-site event co-lead. One-on-one coaching until results are achieved.
Certification: Participation in this course and completion of 1 project = Continuous Improvement 5S Black Belt CERTIFICATION.
