Team Huddles: Bringing Improvement into Daily Work

Focus and engage team members in achieving goals, identifying problems (daily), joining in solving problems and implementing improvements. Team Continual Improvement System™ (CIS™) process and huddling around the CIS™ board is a fantastic way to increase adoption of improvements more quickly and sustain more improvements longer.

Goal of Team Huddles:

To learn the process of leading my team in routine team problem solving sessions to focus together on performance measures and what and how to achieve goals together.

Agenda: 

Training: 4 hours of interactive education with immediate implementation.   

8:00 AM - 12:00 PM TRAINING

  • Establishing the team huddle framework to engage staff in everyday CI processes by following the PDSA, improvement, cycle.
  • Understanding team huddles and where they are used.
  • Appreciating the benefits huddles can bring.
  • Establishing team huddles boards.
  • Practice leading a team huddle, including identifying/confirming team performance measures, problem identification, problem solving practice, and converting discussions into actions.

~1 hour PM IMPLEMENTATION

  • In work location: establish huddle board location, confirm performance measures, and add morning content to the board
  • Convene the individual teams. Introduce the huddle. Conduct a huddle meeting to identify action(s) to address a team-based problem.


Application and Coaching: One-on-one coaching until results are achieved.
